MBNA Canada Bank’s Commitment
MBNA Canada Bank, an affiliate of Bank of America Corporation, is committed to integrating environmental policy into our company's products and operations at every level.
One example is Eco-LogiqueTM–the first credit card program in Canada that enables cardholders to earn carbon offset points that MBNA will use to acquire carbon offsets on the customer’s behalf, subject to Terms and Conditions (PDF).

For cardholders who want to support other eco-friendly areas, we also offer affinity credit cards with the Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF) and Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC). Both these organizations receive a donation directly from MBNA with each card purchase.
In addition, MBNA regularly invests in organizations that enhance our environment. We work in close partnership with DUC and sponsors the DUC-MBNA Canada Bank® Conservation Fellowship—a grant program that funds graduate student research in waterfowl and wetland biology studies that promise to advance environmental conservation in Canada.
MBNA has a long-standing relationship with the CWF and provides valuable funding to help expand its conservation programs, such as Backyard Habitat, WILD Education and Checkerspot—a climate change initiative.
Lastly, MBNA created an Eco-Initiatives Working Group to help integrate eco-friendly behaviors in our own company. Key activities include:
- Redesign of our recycling program to maximize recyclables
- Participation in the World Wildlife Federation’s Earth Hour
- Earth Day Eco-Fair for our associates to promote eco-friendly products and introduce practices for “greener living”
- Eco-volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and the City of Ottawa’s “Spring Cleaning the Capital”
Bank of America’s Commitment
Bank of America recognizes that we have a tremendous opportunity and responsibility to address global climate change as a significant challenge faced by the communities we support.
As such, our environmental initiatives emphasize the business opportunities created by green economic growth by providing critical financing to encourage the development of environmentally sustainable products and technologies; accelerate the deployment of existing technologies; and increase energy efficiency.
In March 2007, Bank of America announced a USD 20 billion, 10-year environmental initiative to address climate change by championing sustainable business practices through lending, investing, new products and services, and operations.
